Free Parallax WordPress Theme

The parallax effect is getting pretty popular around the web these days. Recently, we ran into a parallax tutorial that integrated with Twitter Bootstrap over at untame.net. We thought this approach to the parallax effect was great and wanted to integrate it into a Twitter Bootstrap WordPress theme.

We built Bootstrap Parallax and included a theme options panel where you can upload the different background images and easily manage/update your site content within the WordPress dashboard. The theme has several different page templates and includes Font Awesome for the social icons.

Twitter Bootstrap eCommerce WordPress Theme

WooCommerce is a popular eCommerce plugin for WordPress that helps you sell anything right within your own site. We have been building eCommerce stores powered by WooCommerce and WordPress for a while and finally decided to make our own Twitter Bootstrap eCommerce WordPress theme called StrapPress Commerce. This eCommerce theme is based off our popular responsive StrapPress theme with some added features and page templates to support the eCommerce plugin.

StrapPress Commerce also includes nine different color schemes to help get your site looking exactly how you want so you can match your brand. The theme also includes a theme options panel to customize and configure some of the theme features. Within the theme options panel you can:

Flat UI WordPress Theme

Just in! A responsive Twitter Bootstrap WordPress theme based off the Flat UI kit from Designmodo called FlatPress. With this Flat UI WordPress theme you can use all the features and elements that are included in the UI kit as well as all the Twitter Bootstrap components. The theme includes several page templates and a custom homepage with several widget areas.

Flat design is becoming the new trend in the world of UI and web site designs. This type of design is removing the box shadows, gradients, 3D features, and a lot of the other new CSS features to get that 'throw back' look and feel on the web. If you pay attention to page designs when looking around the web, you will start to notice a lot of the big web properties online starting to use these minimal/flat designs. Really helps to keep visitors on your site without overwhelming them with all kinds of moving objects and site accessories.

Bootstrap 3.0

Bootstrap 3 is said to be the next release of the Twitter Bootstrap framework. The developers have big plans for Twitter Bootstrap 3 and we are getting anxious! The developers have a pull request setup for Bootstrap 3 where you can follow along and see what is going on.

The biggest change for Bootstrap 3 is that it is going to be mobile-first. Here is a quote from the github page:

While our last major version bump (2.0) was a complete rewrite of the docs, CSS, and JavaScript, the move to 3.0 is equally ambitious, but for a different reason: Bootstrap 3 will be mobile-first. This is an ongoing document to identify the changes we'll be making along the way.

We are excited about Bootstrap 3! New updates and changes to the framework mean we will have new WordPress themes to utilize Twitter Bootstrap 3.

WordPress Themes Updated to Twitter Bootstrap 2.3.0

Twitter Bootstrap was recently updated to version 2.3.0!! This update comes with a lot of bug fixes and some minor new features. If you are interested, you can read about all the 2.3.0 changes on the Twitter Bootstrap blog here. In that blog post, it states that this is probably the last update before version 3.0. I dunno about you, but that will be an exciting day!

Back to the point of this blog post... All of our themes have been updated to the latest version of Bootstrap. We have also updated the Font Awesome icon font to version 3.0.2 to keep everything up-to date. This also means that you can use all the Twitter Bootstrap features and Font Awesome classes within your WordPress theme with the included Twitter Bootstrap shortcode plugin that is included with your purchase.

Twitter Bootstrap Directory WordPress Theme

Recently we released Directory, which is a responsive Twitter Bootstrap WordPress theme to rate any type of content you would like in a directory layout.

Directory uses the featured image functionality of WordPress to display images on the homepage for each post you are creating. You will also notice the star rating system on the homepage and on the single post layout. The star rating is built into the theme and also uses Font Awesome for the star icons. When creating a new post, you can easily select the star rating for the individual post. You can see an example of this below:

The above image is a screen shot of the rating system and two text fields to set the homepage button text and URL for each post.

We have also included some custom widget areas for the header advertising area, homepage section under the navigation, sidebar, and footer. You will also have two custom widgets that you can drag and drop into the homepage area to easily add a larger search box like the demo. The other custom widget will allow you to add any text that you would like.

Other than these custom theme features, Directory also includes a theme option panel for further customization. These options allow you to easily upload a logo, change button colors, enable/disable certain features, add social icons, and more. If you are looking for a responsive directory theme to rate and review a certain type of content, then Directory is for you!

Update: Font Awesome 3.0!

Font Awesome 3.0 was recently released with some new icons and features! BragThemes.com quickly grabbed the latest copy of the icon font and updated our Bootstrap WordPress themes and Bootstrap WordPress plugin to take advantage of the new features.

With Font Awesome 3.0, you now have 249 different icons and some new styles you can utilize. You can now make any icon spin to get the loading or refreshing effect. There is now also a mute and border class that will fade the icon and put a nice border around the icon. The Font Awesome team has also added an alignment class, so you can align the icon to the left or right. This acts like the pull-left and pull-right class of the Twitter Bootstrap framework. Last, but not least they have added a few more size classes so you can increase the size of the icons.

As mentioned above, our Bootstrap WordPress plugin that is included in all premium purchases has also been updated. This means you can easily start using all these new icons and great features with any of our Bootstrap themes today!

Recently we updated StrapPress to the latest Twitter Bootstrap version 2.2.2 and also added more features!

One of the new features is the portfolio section is now powered by the isotope jQuery plugin. This plugin gives the filterable portfolio beautiful transitions and great responsive features.

The latest version of StrapPress now includes all the Bootswatch themes. You can now easily change the look and style of your StrapPress theme from the theme options panel from the WordPress dashboard. Just pick the theme you want to use and your website style will change automatically. Here are some screenshots of the different Bootswatch themes:

Kellie Copeland Swisher:
Kellie is a pastor and Christian leader known by millions across the globe as “Commander Kellie”. When I took this freelance job one of the big feature sets was responsive design. I knew right away I was going to Twitter Bootstrap due some great experiences with the framework on some past projects. I looked for some start themes that were using Twitter Bootstrap and really found none at first. I started to undertake the task of developing a theme from scratch and in the process of doing research stumbled across AgencyBoot, SCORE! Your theme literally cut my time in half and saved my client and I time and money. You can say it was destiny that brought us together and a Google search with WordPress and Twitter Bootstrap spelled correctly!

Favorite Twitter Bootstap Feature:

I have to say my favorite feature with Twitter Bootstrap are the pre built JavaScript features, modals, drop downs, tabs, ect.

Do I like using Twitter Bootstrap with WordPress:

I love it! I think they complement each other extremely well. I never felt like I was having to bend either one to act differently to get them to work together. As far as I am concerned I will only build responsive designs using Twitter Bootstrap and if the job requires a CMS then it's WordPress!

Nivo Slider - this seemed to work better for me than the Twitter Bootstrap built in rotator.

I really liked that you created a landing page template. It was a nice bonus! I also like that you used the Options Framework. If I was to create this theme from scratch I would have done it about 90% just like you did, so you can imagine why I was so excited to find this theme.
